Self-teaching yourself how to code can be a difficult task, finding quality resources, sticking to study schedules, or even finding/maintaining the motivation to keep learning. As many others Ive tried the #100DaysOfCode challenge (self-teaching myself JS) and found myself losing interest in the subject day by day. I finally realized that I don't enjoy web development and would never want to pursue it as a career because I have a love-hate relationship with Javascript.

More recently I started a database specialist role that required some SQL knowledge( I have a pretty good foundation of SQL) and finally realized that I enjoy backend development and data science more than front-end development. I'm interested in how data is stored, manipulated, and learning about machine learning and automation. With that being said I started to learn Python the other day and wanted to document my journey on here to hold myself accountable.

I am happy to have found what works for me and am excited to see where this language leads me in my career. I shared this story to help others who are trying to learn how to code on their own to find what interests you and makes you happy so learning doesn't feel like a chore.
